My first project in the WordPress Polyglots community was ERP: Complete HR, Accounting & CRM Suite with WooCommerce CRM Support. This was the project where I made my first real contribution as a translator, which marked the transition from preparation to actual participation in the platform.

For this first contribution, the first string I translated was “Stable (latest release)”, translating it from English into Spanish (Costa Rica). Even though it was a short string, it represented an important first step in understanding how the Polyglots workflow operates in practice.

How I Made My First Contribution

The process was actually simple and user-friendly. First, I selected the plugin project I wanted to contribute to. Then, I opened the translation area, double-clicked on the string, and entered my translation in the corresponding field. After submitting the suggestion, the platform marked the string in yellow, which indicated that its status was “Waiting” until it could be reviewed by validators.

This first interaction helped me understand that contributing to WordPress Polyglots is technically accessible, even for beginners, as long as they are willing to follow the structure of the platform and pay attention to details.

My Experience During the Process

I felt good about this first contribution. In fact, I found the activity entertaining and motivating. It was satisfying to see that I could participate in a real international community project with a simple but meaningful action. This first experience made me interested in continuing to contribute, and it even made me think about trying other languages in the future.

Although the process itself was easy, I quickly realized that translation requires a high level of precision. For example, I noticed that some strings ended with a period and others did not. This means that even small punctuation details must be respected to maintain consistency and quality in the translated content.

What I Learned

This first concrete action taught me that translation in WordPress Polyglots is not only about understanding two languages, but also about being careful with style, punctuation, and consistency. Even a short string can require close attention if the goal is to produce a translation that matches the standards of the community.

Overall, this was a very positive first experience. It gave me confidence, helped me understand the submission process better, and motivated me to keep contributing with more translations.
